Solar
Concentrators

The
heat generated by these Solar Concentrators can be used for refrigeration,
air conditioning, heating, power generation and desalination when
combined with the appropriate compoents.
Air
Conditioning
In
many regions air conditioning can account for more than 50% of
the electrical usage for over 6 months of the year.
Solar driven air conditioning allows major energy savings for
many large commercial and industrial users. Considering the tiered
rate structures utilized by the Utilities during the summer months
the cost savings could be dramatic.
With
solar assisted air conditioning, thermal energy is used to drive
the cooling process, rather than electric compressors. The most
commonly available machines used for cooling are absorption chillers,
a familiar technology widely used in many parts of the world for
air conditioning and low temperature cold storage, and adsorption
chillers, which are gaining increasing acceptance due to their
simple design and operation.
This
system can drive closed system absorption
and absorption chillers to produce air conditioning
systems that displace electric load while simultaneously generating
electricity. Air conditioning
can be designed to integrate with the same solar array as either
power generation or process
heat, with ample thermal heat to drive at least two processes.
This makes it exceptionally appealing to those with more than
one on-site power need.
